Becoming a citizen of Canada grants one the right to reside permanently in one of the countries with the highest standard of living in the world, the ability to take part in the democratic process of the country, and the possession of a passport that is considered to be among the most secure in the world.
It is the goal of the Canadian government to annually accept more than 430,000 new permanent citizens. The majority of these newcomers will eventually become proud citizens of Canada. After this procedure is over, individuals will take loyalty oaths in which they will pledge their allegiance to the obligations and privileges that come with becoming a Canadian citizen.
After living in Canada as a permanent resident for at least three years, an immigrant can apply to become a citizen. To apply for Canadian citizenship, you have to meet a number of requirements. You may then have to take a Canadian citizenship test.
Once you are accepted as a Canadian citizen, you can take the Oath of Citizenship at a Citizenship Ceremony. This is a symbolic event that signifies you becoming and official citizen with full rights and responsibilities
We also help in applying for Permanent residency though one of the many immigration programs available. Becoming a Permanent resident is important step in the path to citizenship and almost always a necessary requirement before becoming a citizen
According to Canadian law, prospective citizens must have been permanent residents in the country for at least 1,095 days in the five (5) year period immediately preceding their citizenship application.
Only the previous five years up to the application date are considered. During that time frame of five years:
As a permanent resident of Canada, you're considered to have lived through a full calendar day for every day you've been in the country.
The minimum number of days necessary to complete the physical presence requirement for citizenship is 365, although applicants can get credit for up to a year for each day they spent in Canada as a temporary resident or protected person.
In the event that the applicant became a permanent resident less than five years ago, the five-year period will begin on the date of permanent residency acquisition.
There is no way to satisfy the physical presence requirement by serving a prison term in Canada (i.e., time spent in a prison, penitentiary, jail, reformatory, probation, and/or parole does not count as physical presence).
